The NFL is back — and Week 1 wasted no time reminding us why football is king.
You know that feeling when you sit down for the first Sunday of the season and tell yourself, “I’ll just watch a couple of games”?
Yeah… that didn’t happen.
Week 1 delivered close games, big performances, surprising results and enough drama to keep fans glued to the TV.
Here’s the quick version for fans with short attention spans.
🔥 Game of the Week: Bills Survive Texans
Buffalo Bills 36, Houston Texans 31
If you watched only one game, this was the one.
Josh Allen looked like Josh Allen again, throwing for 334 yards and two touchdowns while adding two rushing scores.
The Texans kept answering, but Buffalo made the biggest play when it mattered.
With just 1:36 left, Allen connected with Joshua Palmer for a 34-yard touchdown to put Buffalo ahead.
Houston still had one last chance.
Then Greg Rousseau got to C.J. Stroud, forced a fumble, and the Bills recovered to end the game.
Five lead changes in the fourth quarter.
That’s how you start a season.
😱 Giants Shock the Cowboys
New York Giants 28, Dallas Cowboys 20
Talk about starting the season with a statement.
The Giants opened the John Harbaugh era with a win over their biggest division rival.
Dallas scored 20 points, but the Giants controlled the game when it mattered most.
For Cowboys fans, it’s already time to ask some uncomfortable questions.
For Giants fans?

🦅 Eagles Hold Off Commanders
Philadelphia Eagles 24, Washington Commanders 22
This one nearly slipped away.
Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes, including two to Dallas Goedert, as Philadelphia built a lead.
Washington refused to quit.
Jayden Daniels brought the Commanders back late, but Philadelphia survived after Washington failed on a two-point conversion with just over a minute remaining.
Eagles start 1-0.
And the NFC East already looks interesting.
🦁 Detroit Wins a Thriller in Overtime
Detroit Lions 31, New Orleans Saints 30
This game was bananas.
The Saints erased a big deficit, forced overtime and had a chance to steal the game.
Detroit answered with an overtime touchdown from Amon-Ra St. Brown.
New Orleans scored a touchdown on its possession — but failed on the two-point conversion.
Game over.
Lions survive.
And Jahmyr Gibbs? He looked dangerous, rushing for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
🐻 Chicago Drops 59!
Chicago Bears 59, Carolina Panthers 37
Apparently the Bears decided Week 1 was the perfect time to put 59 points on the board.
Caleb Williams threw two touchdowns and ran for two more, while D’Andre Swift rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns.
The Panthers scored 37 themselves, but Chicago simply kept coming.
552 total yards for the Bears.
That’s an offensive explosion.
🐦 Ravens Make a Statement
Baltimore Ravens 41, Indianapolis Colts 23
Lamar Jackson looked sharp.
Derrick Henry looked even better.
Henry rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns, while Jackson threw for 324 yards and added a rushing score.
Baltimore piled up more than 500 total yards.
That’s not a warm-up game.
That’s a warning.
🐆 Jaguars Cruise Past Cleveland
Jacksonville Jaguars 34, Cleveland Browns 10
Jacksonville didn’t waste any time.
Trevor Lawrence threw four touchdown passes without an interception, and the Jaguars jumped out to a huge early lead.
The Browns didn’t score until the fourth quarter.
Jacksonville 1-0.
🐅 Bengals Win, But Give Tampa Bay Plenty of Chances
Cincinnati Bengals 33, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27
Joe Burrow and the Bengals got the win, but this wasn’t exactly a stress-free afternoon.
Cincinnati led early and survived a Tampa Bay comeback attempt.
The biggest difference?
Turnovers.
The Buccaneers turned the ball over four times.
You don’t usually win football games doing that.
🖤 Steelers Get It Done
Pittsburgh Steelers 20, Atlanta Falcons 13
This wasn’t a shootout.
It was old-school football.
Defense, field position and timely plays.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 221 yards and a touchdown in his Pittsburgh debut, while T.J. Watt made one of the biggest plays of the game by returning an interception for a touchdown.
Steel City starts 1-0.

👀 What We Learned
It’s only Week 1, so let’s not crown anybody yet.
But we learned plenty.
The Bills can win a shootout.
The Giants may be tougher than expected.
The Eagles are still the team to beat in the NFC East.
The Ravens can put up points in a hurry.
And the Lions refuse to make anything easy.
That’s the beauty of Week 1.
Half the fan bases are already dreaming about February.
The other half is already saying, “It’s a long season.”
And honestly?
They’re both right.
