With the regular season heading into its final weeks, the playoff races in both leagues are starting to take shape.
And yes — you were right about the Tampa Bay Rays. They are the first American League team to clinch a postseason berth, doing it Friday night on a walk-off homer by Junior Caminero against Houston.
So, baseball fans, let’s paint the October picture.
🔥 THE AMERICAN LEAGUE: TAMPA BAY IS IN
🟢 1. Tampa Bay Rays — AL East
The Rays aren’t just in the playoffs.
They’re sitting on top of the American League.
At 88-59, Tampa Bay has built a three-game lead over the Yankees in the AL East.
And now the pressure changes.
The Rays aren’t playing just to get into October anymore.
They’re playing for seeding.
That could mean a huge advantage once the postseason starts.
🗽 2. New York Yankees — Wild Card
The Yankees are sitting at 85-62, three games behind Tampa Bay.
They’re also playing some of their best baseball lately, going 7-3 over their last 10 games.
And here’s the fun part:
The Yankees still have a legitimate shot at the division.
But if they don’t catch Tampa?
They’re currently in excellent position for a Wild Card spot.
🔴 3. Boston Red Sox — Wild Card
Boston sits at 80-68, currently holding the second Wild Card position.
But don’t get too comfortable, Red Sox fans.
The gap behind them isn’t enormous.
The Red Sox have six games of cushion over Cleveland in one current MLB playoff-picture measurement, but the final Wild Card race is still alive.
⚪ 4. Chicago White Sox — AL Central
Here’s one of the biggest surprises.
The White Sox are leading the AL Central at 75-72.
But Cleveland is right behind them.
Only half a game separates Chicago and Cleveland.
That’s not a division race.
That’s a baseball knife fight.
🚀 5. Houston Astros — AL West
Houston is sitting at 75-73 and leading Texas by three games in the AL West.
But Houston isn’t exactly cruising.
The Astros have a negative run differential and are only a couple of games above .500.
Still, they control their own destiny in the division.
👀 6. Cleveland Guardians — THE TEAM TO WATCH
Cleveland is sitting at 75-73.
Right now, they’re the final American League Wild Card team.
But Toronto is only two games behind Cleveland for that final spot.
And Texas is only three games behind Cleveland.

The AL Wild Card race isn’t over. Not even close.
🔥 NATIONAL LEAGUE: MILWAUKEE IS MAKING A STATEMENT
If the American League has drama…
The National League has POWER.
🦌 1. Milwaukee Brewers — NL Central
Milwaukee is having an outstanding season.
92-56.
That’s the best record in the National League.
And the Brewers have already clinched a postseason berth.
They’re also sitting 10 games ahead of the Cubs in the NL Central.
That’s domination.

The Dodgers are right behind Milwaukee at 90-57.

They’re currently riding an eight-game winning streak.
The Dodgers also have one of baseball’s best run differentials at +173.
If you’re an NL contender, you don’t want to see Los Angeles suddenly get hot in September.
Because October Dodgers baseball?
Yeah… we’ve seen this movie before.
🔴 3. Atlanta Braves — NL East
Atlanta is sitting at 87-61, five games ahead of Philadelphia in the NL East.
The Braves have also won two straight.
And they’ve already won the season tiebreaker against Philadelphia, which could become very important when postseason seeding is finalized.
🐻 THE WILD CARD BATTLE
Chicago Cubs — 82-66
Philadelphia Phillies — 82-66
San Diego Padres — 79-68
Those are currently your three Wild Card teams.
But wait…
Arizona Diamondbacks — 79-69
Arizona is only half a game behind San Diego.
Now THAT’S a playoff race.
The Padres are hot, winning seven of their last 10 and five straight, while Arizona is hanging right behind them.
And guess what?
The Padres and Diamondbacks finish the regular season against each other.
That series could decide everything.
